Dental Crowns & Bridges
We are dedicated to helping our patients achieve optimal dental health and a bright, beautiful smile. One of the ways we do this is by offering crown and bridge dental services.
What is a Dental Crown?
A dental crown is a cap placed over damaged or decayed teeth to restore their shape, size, and strength. These crowns can be made of porcelain, ceramic, and metal alloys. They are custom-made to match the color and shape of your teeth, making them blend in with your natural smile.
What Issues Can Dental Crowns Fix?
- Broken or cracked teeth
- Large cavities
- Teeth that have undergone root canal therapy
You might need a dental crown if you have:
- A broken or severely worn tooth
- A tooth with a large filling and not enough tooth remaining
- A tooth that had a root canal
- A misshapen or severely discolored tooth
What is a Dental Bridge?
A dental bridge is a form of restorative dentistry that replaces one or more missing teeth. It typically consists of two or more dental crowns that are attached to the surrounding teeth, with a false tooth or teeth in between. Bridges can be made from materials such as porcelain, ceramic, and metal alloys, and they are custom-made to fit your mouth perfectly.
Benefits of Dental Bridges:
- They make chewing and speaking easier
- Improve the appearance of your smile
- Maintain the shape of your face
- Prevent remaining teeth from drifting out of position
You might need a dental bridge if you have:
- One or more missing teeth
- Having difficulty chewing or speaking because of missing teeth.
- A desire to improve the look of your smile
- Concerns about teeth shifting into the space of the missing tooth

How long do dental crowns and bridges last?
Dental crowns and bridges can last many years with proper care. On average, they can last between 10 to 15 years, but they can last even longer with excellent oral hygiene and regular dental check-ups. The longevity of crowns and bridges depends on factors such as the materials used, your oral habits, and how well you maintain your overall dental health.

What is the process for getting a dental crown or bridge?
Dental Crowns: The process for getting a dental crown typically involves two visits to the dentist. During the first visit, the dentist will prepare the tooth by removing any decay and shaping it to fit the crown. An impression of your tooth will be taken and sent to a dental lab to create the custom crown. A temporary crown will be placed to protect the tooth until the permanent crown is ready. At the second visit, the temporary crown will be removed, and the permanent crown will be cemented in place.
Dental Bridges: The process for a dental bridge is similar but may involve additional steps. The adjacent teeth (abutments) are prepared by removing a portion of enamel to accommodate the crowns. An impression is taken, and a temporary bridge may be placed. At the second visit, the custom bridge, which includes the artificial tooth (pontic) and crowns, is fitted and cemented in place.

Will my dental crown or bridge look natural?
Dental crowns and bridges are designed to look as natural as possible. They are custom-made to match your surrounding teeth’ color, shape, and size. Modern dental materials, such as porcelain and ceramic, mimic the translucency and appearance of natural teeth, making crowns and bridges virtually indistinguishable from your natural smile. Your dentist will work with you to ensure the final result blends seamlessly with your existing teeth.
